Chestnut - Wilke marriage - 1955

Miss Marlene Wilke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eldo F. Wilke, became the bride of Dale R. Chestnut, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Chestnut of Adair, Iowa, Saturday, Nov. 26, at Zion's Lutheran church, Clayton Center, Iowa. The Rev. J. H. Zerhusen officiated. Miss Brenda Hense, of Dubuque, a cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Flower girl was Cynthia Wilke, sister of the bride, and Scott Chestnut, of Stuart, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer. Melvin Chestnut of Adair, attended his brother as best man, and ushers were Eldean Wilke, brother of the bride, and John Chestnut, brother of the groom.

A reception for about 160 guests was held in the church parlors, at which Miss Claire Chestnut, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Herman Ruhser, aunt of the bride, served the cake.

Mrs. Chestnut is a graduate of the Elkader high school. Mr. Chestnut is a graduate of Adair high school and is employed at Joe Rhomberg Implement company of Elkader.
