Fritz Wehde, prominent retired farmer of Everly, died at his home Sunday, January 13,1935. He had resided in the Everly community since 1895.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Hope Lutheran Church at Everly at two o'clock, Rev. A. H. Geske, pastor, officiating.
Interment was in Lone Tree cemetery.
Mr. Wehde was born February 21, 1851, in Wacken, Germany, being 83 years, 10 months and 22 days of age at his death.
On November 13,1876, he was united in marriage to Margretha Schluter, and in 1884 they, immigrated to this country, living in and around Grand Mound, Clinton County, Iowa, for 13 years.
In 1895 they came to Clay County, farming until the spring of 1910 when they retired from the farm to live in Everly. The family also resided at Lakefield, Minn., for a period of three years. The last seven years were spent in Long Beach, Calif. From there Mr. Wehde returned with his wife last July, again making their home in Everly.
Relatives Who Survive
Two sons have preceded their father in death. Remaining besides Mrs. Wehde are four children, Henry Wehde of Weyauwega, Wis., Mrs. Anna Jordan of Ida Grove, and Albert Wehde and Mrs. Dora Lohse of Everly: three sisters in Argentina, South America, and a brother in Germany; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; besides a host of friends.
Mr. Wehde had always been a tireless worker in community affairs, enjoying social life, and was one of the organizers of the Hope Lutheran church of Everly.
