….Mrs. Mary Jones was born in Wayne county, Ohio, October 11, 1817 and died at the home of her son, W. E. Cone, with whom she had lived for the past ten years, two miles northeast of Murray. She was united in marriage to Ezra Cone May 16, 1839 and two weeks later they moved to Illinois and made their home in that state for four years when they moved to Monroe county, Iowa. In 1868 she moved to Clarke county where she lived until the time of her death, May 14, 1898. She was a mother of thirteen children, ten of whom are still living. She united with the Methodist church in 1862 and lived a faithful and consistent member until the time of her death. Her Funeral sermon was preached in the M. E. church in the presence of a large company of friends and neighbors by the pastor, Rev. Gibson. For over four score years she lived and toiled and then went home....
