Mrs. Zoma Coombs
Aurelia – Mrs. Zoma Coombs died at her home here Friday night at 9:30 after a two-week illness. Funeral services will be held from the house at 2:00 and from the Congregational church at 2:30. She is survived by her husband and nine children. Mr. Coombs was formerly a county supervisor (Source: Cherokee Daily Times, Sat., Nov 28, 1931, pg. 6)
Mrs. Ella Coombs, wife of Zoma Coombs, was born in Buena Vista County January 21, 1872, the daughter of Christian and Sophia Gulbrason. She died November 27, 1931, at the age of 59 years. Mrs. Coombs, a true homemaker, wonderful mother and friend, won for herself a place of high esteem and affection in the hearts of many.
Reared in the Norwegian Lutheran church, she took her confirmation vows in early life. After her marriage she became identified with the Congregational church and was always active in its work.
Those who survive Mrs. Coombs are her husband, Zoma Coombs, three sons, Clifford, Oren and Donald; six daughters, Mrs. Inez Larsen, Mrs. Ruby Holderness. Mrs. Lurline Valstine, Mrs. Gwendolyn Jackson, Misses Olive and Audrie Coombs, sixteen grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. George Bell, Mrs. Richard Johnson, Mrs. Elmer Jorgenson, Mrs. Charlie Coombs of Alta; one brother, Carl Gulbrason, many nephews, nieces and more distant relatives.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 29, at the residence followed by ceremony at the Congregational church. (Source: Cherokee Daily Times, Tues., Dec 1, 1931, pg. 6)
