Mrs. Alice Jane O’Donnell
The funeral of Mrs. James O’Connell, whose death was recorded in our last issue, occurred from the Congregational church yesterday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. D. W. L. Ferris assisted by Rev. Southwell of the M. E. church. A large number of people were present, evidencing the esteem in which the deceased was held.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Alice Jane Hall, was born at Verona, Oneida county, New York, Aug. 30, 1847. She was the daughter of William C. and Louisa A. Hall, who, in an early day moved to Illinois, first settling at Evanston, afterwards moving to McLean County, and then to Prairie Centre, the present home of Mr. Hall, the mother having died two years ago. Here Mr. and Mrs. O’Donnell were married June 4, 1872. Mr. O’Donnell engaged in the practice of law at Ottawa but was soon attracted to the west and they moved to Cherokee Nov. 18, 1875, and have since resided here.

Mrs. O’Donnell early in life became a devout Christian, becoming a member of the Methodist church. After her removal to Iowa, she with her husband united with the Congregational church of this city and of which she has always been a consistent and faithful member. She leaves surviving her, her loved husband James O’Donnell; and her father, William C. Hall, and a sister, Mrs. Susan McLachlan, of Prairie Centre, Ill.

To the grief-stricken husband the sympathy of our people goes out in abundant measure. No one who knew this couple could help but admire the love and devotion and happy simplicity of their lives.
