Funeral services for Mrs. Malcom (Evelyn) Byers, 69, were held at Sheets & Son Jan. 9, 1990 with the Rev. Robert Molsberry officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Pallbearers were Darin Byers, Harry Wethington, Chad Johnston, Butch Sanford, Pete Krepick and Wayne Vernon.

Mrs. Byers died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Jan. 7.

The daughter of Harry and Pauline Von Roden Norton, she was born at Olin Feb. 5, 1920. She attended the Olin schools and was married to Malcom P. Byers at Cedar Rapids July 28, 1939. A homemaker, she lived in Olin until moving to Tipton in 1943.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Robert (JoAnne) Johnston, Sharon Martin and Lana Byers, Tipton; a son, Martin, Tipton; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 4 sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Annie) Schafer, Morley; Mrs. Marie McDonald and Mrs. Robert (Irene) Vik, Hiawatha and Mrs. Paul (Dorothy) Perry, Baldwin.

She was preceded in death by her husband and 2 brothers.
