Funeral services for Edo Thien, 94, were held at First United Church of Christ Jan. 18 with the Rev. Robert Molsberry officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Pallbearers were Marvin Evers, Don Thien, Bill Fields, Elmer Hack, Ernest Kunde and Don Maher. Joe Mallie was vocalist and Betty Trevathan organist.

Mr. Thien died at the Clarence Nursing home Jan. 15.

The son of Dietrich and Johanne M. Hullen Thien, he was born at Stollham, Germany June 25, 1893 and received his education in Germany, coming to the United States in 1911. He was married to Luella Butterbrodt at Bennett Jan. 31, 1918. A retired farmer, he had lived in the Tipton area for 76 years.

He was a member of First United Church of Christ and a former member of the Tipton IOOF.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Elnora Suchomel, Tipton and Mrs. Lawrence (Marian) Techau, Manchester; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and 2 great-grandchildren.
