Funeral services for Charles (Charlie) A. Innes, 86, custodian at the Tipton schools for 32 years, were held at the Sheets and Son Funeral Home Oct. 5 with Dr. Jerrold Swinton officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.
Pallbearers were Greg, Bill and Scott Tenley, Mark Johnston, Jake Roberts and Dick Bartholomew. Diane Moon was vocalist and Patty Niehaus was the organist. Masonic services were held Oct. 4.
Mr. Innes died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Oct. 3.
The son of David and Mina Snyder Innes, he was born at Tipton Nov. 9, 1900 and spent his entire life in Tipton.
He was custodian at the Tipton schools, first in the main building and then in the elementary building. He worked full time until 1969 and part-time until 1976. Innes was an unsuccessful candidate for the Tipton city council from the first ward in 1973.
He was a member of the United Methodist church and Masonic Lodge #11, AF&AM, Tipton.
He is survived by a nephew, William J. Johnston, Tipton; 6 nieces, Marjorie Spear, Tipton; Mary Lou Muhl, Oskaloosa; Peggy Langenberg, Marshalltown; Betty Tenley, Stanwood; Judy Roberts, Oskaloosa and Susan Bartholomew, Solon.
