Funeral services for Carl Lyngaas, 68, West Branch, were held July 24 at Bethany Lutheran church in West Branch, with the Rev. Mary I. Schweiker officiating. Mrs. Shirley Sondergard was organist and Deanna Weismann soloist. Pallbearers were Darrell Derby, Stuart Derby, Herbert Friis, Brian Lee, John Jacobsen and Ronald Shemick. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Friis, Leslie Pedersen and Donald Dettweiler. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery with Barker Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lyngaas died July 22 at his home in West Branch after a long illness.
The son of Karl and Karen Jensen Lyngaas, he was born June 10, 1919 in Denmark. He married Ellen Lafferty June 24, 1961 in Sigourney.
Mr. Lyngaas came to the United States in 1955, making his home in West Branch. He worked for the food service department at the University of Iowa, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Bethany church.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Max, Muscatine; a brother, Leif, Frederikshaun, Denmark; 2 sisters, Ella Nepper and Ditte Leth, both of Fredrikshaun, Denmark and a grandson.
