(February 9, 1940 - September 16, 2014)Gloria G. New, age 74, passed away on September 16, 2014, at her home in Rockwell City after a very courageous battle with cancer. Gloria Glee Garoutte was born on February 9, 1940, near Sac City. She was the daughter of Leland and Mildred (Carmichael) Garoutte. She was the oldest of four children. After her parents divorced, she remained on the farm with her siblings and great aunt "Nonny" Garoutte, until she was fourteen. She then moved to Fort Dodge with her mother and step-father. Gloria was blessed with three children: Charles, Kay and Colleen. Throughout her life, Gloria had many occupations. From running a garbage collection service to running three restuarants in the Fort Dodge area. She also cleaned homes and ran computers in a truck stop. Gloria resided in the Joplin, Missouri area for the last twenty-five years. In January of 2013, her husband passed away and she moved "home" to Iowa, relocating to Rockwell City. In the last year of her life, Gloria was blessed with renewed, loving relationships with her children and many dear friends. She also enjoyed reading, feeding the birds and watching her great-grandchildren play. Gloria is survived by her children: Charlie (Jamie) Smith of Colorado, Jared, John and Taylor, Kay (Dan) Weishaar of Colorado, Craig and Dustin, Colleen Zinnel of Rockwell City, Paul and Jessica, Austin and Abby; sister: Nancy Garoutte, brothers: Willard {Sonny} Garoutte, Alan Smith and Russell Smith. She had nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Alice Heyden and uncles George and Bim Yeazel and her husband Joe.
