(November 16, 1937 - May 20, 2015)James "Jim" Roese, age 77, 0f Pomeroy, passed away on May 20, 2015, at the Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City. James Frederick Roese was born on November 16, 1937, at Primghar. He was the son of Frederick W. and Florence Ida (Petty) Roese. Jim was educated in Pomeroy Schools and during his Junior year of high school, he enlisted in the US Navy. After he was honorably discharged he came back and graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1956. Jim later went to Morningside College in Sioux City and graduated with a business degree. Jim went to California with his school friends and when he came back he married Charlotte Klocko on June 27, 1959, at St. John Lutheran Church in Pomeroy. The couple has made their home in Rural Pomeroy. Jim worked for Muse's DX station and managed and sold feed for several local grain elevators. He retired from Positech in Laurens after twenty-five years. Jim volunteered on the Knoke Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved visiting with family and his many friends. Jim especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You could always find Jim watching a NASCAR race on TV whenever they were on. Jim is survived by his wife Charlotte, the couple would have been married for fifty-six years this June; daughters: Pam O'Tool of Lake City, Jean Kraft of Rockwell City and Sandy Sage of Pomeroy; son: Dan and Rhonda Holtapp Roese of Pomeroy; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers: Ronald (Loretta) Roese of Waukon and Richard (Mary Lee) Roese of Elizabeth City, NC; nephew: Tony Roese and niece, Dawn Roese-Shogren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Florence Roese; Charlotte's parents: Henry and Grace (Smith) Klocko; son-in-law, Bob Sage, grandson, Nick Holtapp, nephew, Phillip Klocko and brother-in-law, Dale Klocko.
