John K. Williams, a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, died at his home in the First ward, Monday afternoon of heart trouble. While he had been in poor health for some time, the end came unexpectedly. A man of genial character, he made many friendships, and his death is sincerely mourned. The funeral was held this afternoon at 2:30 from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Erin Wackerbarth, Rev. A.E. Kepford of Gladbrook, an old-time friend of the deceased, officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery.

John Kirk Williams was born at Quasqueton, December 24, 1863. His boyhood was spent in that place, and he lived most of his life in Buchanan County. March 26, 1893, he was united in marriage to May DeGrief. To this union were born two children, Fred who died in infancy, and Marie S. (Mrs. E.H. Wackerbarth), who survives. He was the youngest of a family of three children born to Cornelius and Susan Williams, all of whom have preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his death, his widow, daughter, other relatives and many friends.

Mr. Williams was employed at the Home in Toledo for some time, and also at the hospital here. He was employed at the Burkhart garage until his health necessitated his retirement therefrom.
