Struck By Auto
John Knorr received a gash on his forehead and a flesh wound on his hand when struck by an automobile last Wednesday evening. The car which struck him was driven by Bud Haney of Creston, but he was not blamed for the accident. Mr. Knorr's injuries were not considered serious and was able to be up and around the next day.Mr. and Mrs. Edward Snethen visited friends at Manilla, Iowa, Sunday.
Mrs. Kate B. Stoll entertained the reading circle at her home Tuesday evening.
Rev. and Mrs. G. T. Noyce spent several days last week with their son and family at Atlantic.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Henning of Burlington, Kansas, are visiting with her mother, Mrs. Ann Martin.
Mrs. Alta Burg, of Omaha, spent several days last week in the home of her brother, Walter Hyda.
Mrs. Emma Barnhill, Miss Fern Barnhill, and Mrs. Margaret Robinson were in Des Moines, Saturday.
G. S. Ralston, Sr., has been quite sick the past week. His daughter, Mrs. A. E. Sears is helping care for him.
The Nu club met with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kriens Tuesday evening. Mrs. Roy Jensen held high score.
Milton Johnson, of Osceola, visited with friends here a short time Saturday on his way home from Omaha.
Mrs. Ida Tharpe of Anita, came Sunday and will make her home with her sister, Miss Alice Hemphill this winter.
Miss Freda Queck entertained the B.b. club at her home Friday evening. Mrs. W. C. Diers won high score. Miss Amy Adams was a guest.
Marshall Ed Quinton was quite sick last wek with an attack of the flu and Fay Brown served as night watch during his absence from duty.
Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Patterson left Sunday evening to attend 40 & 8 meeting at Iowa City, Dubuque and Waverly, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening.
Miss Fern Barnhill entertained the Wednesday evening Bridge club at her home Wednesday evening. Freda Queck was a guest. Mrs. G. F. Faurote won the high score.
Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Faurote entertained the Thursday evening Bridge cub (sic) at their home Thursday evening. Supt and Mrs. John Schultz were guests. Mrs. F. P. Patterson and John Schutz (sic) held high scores.
The Ton-Ka-Wa club met with Mrs. D. L. Dunlap Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. C. F. Hulburt and Mrs. G. F. Faurote were guests. Mrs. W. A. Addison held high score for the members and Mrs. Hulburt high score for the guests.
Jess Hare of Scottsbluff, Indiana, spent several days at the Mrs. Emma Barnhill homje and with Caldwell Dunn and other relatives. He is a nephew of Mr. Dunn. He is on his way to Wesington, North Dakota, to visit with his sister.
Mrs. C. T. Launder and son C. R. Launder drove to Garwin, Iowa, Sunday after Mr. Launder and brought him home, Monday. Mr. Launder spent several days at the home of his brother at Garwin, after leaving the hospital at Iowa City, where he was operated on 10 days ago. He is much improved in health.
A meeting of the American Legion Auxilliary was held Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. F. P. Patterson, who was assisted in entertaining by Mrs. R. O. Armstrong. Ten members were present and Mrs. A. W. Stemer was a guest. The Auxilliary is sending a dozen pairs of childrens (sic) hose to the supply station at Des Moines. They plan to have a card party Tuesday evening, December 13, at the Legion hall to add a little money to their treasury. After the business meeting an interesting paper on "Rehabitation" was read by Mrs. Armstrong. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. A. H. Kriens with Mrs. Herman Meinkey as assistant hostess and Mrs. R. H. Gregory will have a paper on legisative (sic) matters.
