AUDUBON COUNTY TODAY. (CONT'D)

HORSES.

Good horses are the pride of the yoemanry of the county, and they exercise commendable enterprise in their efforts to improve the stock in general. Percheron, Norman, Clyde, English Draft and the Cleveland Bay are represented in the thoroughbreds. There are in the county a number of gentlemen who devote their wealth and time to this interest, and have been so successful that the excellence of Audubon county horses has been heralded abroad, so that there is always a good and lively market for horses of good quality and weight. Horse raising is found to be one of the most profitable pursuits in connection with farming, and the advantages are equal in the county with those for cattle raising. The best breeds are here, and in the near future will add immensely to the aggregate wealth of the county.

SHEEP.

Sheep raising is almost entirely in the Cotswold and Southdown breeds, though as yet very little attention has been given to this interest. However, every advantage is offered, as the climate is favorable, and those already engaged have never been troubled by disease in their flocks, or by molestation by dogs or wolves. It is an interest that would be found profitable and agreeable.

DAIRY INTERESTS.

This exceedingly profitable and desirable auxilliary to farming has been but imperfectly developed as yet, but is destined to become one of the chief interests of the county. One creamery has been in operation during

the past season, and the experiment has proven so eminently satisfactory to both patrons and proprietors that further and immediate extension of the business will be encouraged. The manufactured butter is of the best quality produced in any part of the world, and the price secured is such as returns richly remunerative prices to all concerned. The unsurpassed and excellent grazing lands, well and equitably waterd, serve the same admirable purpose in this as cattle raising, and make it one of the best counties in Iowa for the dairying interest. The people of Audubon county will render liberal assistance to the development of this interest, with the certain knowledge that it will prove one of the most profitable pursuits the country affords.
