Two Jesup Girls Sworn Into Waves
Jesup, Ia. -- Two Jesup girls, Miss Leola Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Williams, and Miss Mildred Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Schmidt, were sworn into the Waves at Ft. Des Moines the last week. Miss Williams, graduate of Jesup high school in 1938 was employed in the office of the Harken and Schields dental laboratory in Waterloo and for the last three years has been office secretary for the Iowa Public Service Co., here.
Miss Schmidt was graduated from Jesup high in 942 and attended the Gates college at Waterloo. For the past year she has been secretary to the captain of the Columbia army air base in South Carolina, and recently has been employed in the clerical work at the John Deere Tractor Co in Waterloo.
Both girls will report to Hunter college, New York, for basic training.

Leola Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Williams, and employed at a supply depot at Mechanicsburg, Pa., was recently advanced to storekeeper third class in the Waves.
