Traer -- Three Traer girls have enlisted in the Waves, Miss Theresa Snyder, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. J. Snyder, was sent from Des Moines Tuesday to Hunter college, New York City, where she will receive her basic training.

Miss Marjeane E. Whitehead, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Whitehead, who had been employed in Waterloo in recent weeks, and Miss Florence L. Wehrhan, daughter of Mrs. Louis Dengler, will probably be called for training Feb 22. Both of these girls have two brothers in service, Tech. Sgt. Kenneth Wehrhan, brother of the latter, being a prisoner of war in a German camp.

Traer - Mrs. Louis Dengler, northeast of Traer, has received word of the marriage of her daughter, Miss Florence Wehrhan storekeeper third class in the Waves, to Cpl. Robert Dean Thomas, of the army air forces, which occurred Sept. 15. The ceremony was read in the parsonage of the Trinity Methodist church at Hutchinson, Kan. The bride was formerly employed in Traer and Dysart and entered the service a year ago. She has been stationed at the naval air station at Hutchinson, Kan. for several months. The groom's home is at Dunlap. At the present time he is stationed at Muskogee, Okla.

Florence Lorraine Wehrhan Thomas was born Jan. 26, 1923 to Fred and Ruth Mastain Wehrhan. She died Jan. 25, 2013 and is buried in Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion, IA.

Florence served with the U.S. Navy WAVES in World War II.
