Miss Nellie Sampson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Sampson, 710 Harrison street is beginning her basic training in the Women's Army Corps at Ft. Des Moines. She enlisted the service in December and was called to active duty this month.
A graduate of Davenport high school, Miss Sampson was employed for a time in the construction of bomber parts for B-17's at the Douglass Aircraft plant at Long Beach, Calif. She has recently been engaged in similar work at the Detroit of the Douglass Co.
She has three brothers, who are serving in the armed forces, all on overseas duty. They are Staff Sgt. Charles Bein of the army air forces, who was reported as missing in action over Germany, Dec. 20, 1943; Leroy Sampson, jr., torpedo man second class, who has been at sea for the past year, and James G. Sampson, hospital attendant first class, who entered the navy a year and a half ago, and has served out of this country for the past nine months. The latter two are both stationed in the South Pacific area.

DAVENPORT WACS ON DUTY AT ARMY GENERAL HOSPITAL
Following completion of initial training at Ft. Des Moines, WACs Irene E. Kinneman, 2523 McKinley avenue and Nellie Sampson, 710 Harrison street, have been assigned to duty at Wakeman general hospital, Camp Atterbury, Ind.
