Mary E. Sage Commissioned as an Ensign
Miss Mary Elizabeth Sage, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Sage, Jesup, Ia., has been commissioned an ensign in the navy nurses' corps and will report Jan.5 to the Great Lakes naval training station, Great Lake, Ill.
Miss Sage, a graduate of St. Luke's Methodist hospital, Cedar Rapids, Ia., has been employed for the past year at Allen Memorial hospital here.
Before coming to Waterloo she had been employed for two years at St. Mary's hospital, Rochester, Minn.
Two brothers also as in the armed forces. Lt. Clinton E. Sage who is in the army transportation corps, has arrived in New Guinea, and Harlan R. Sage, petty officer third class, is training in naval radar school at Corpus Christi, Tex.

Jesup -- Word has been received here that Mary E. Sage, navy nurse, has been promoted from ensign to lieutenant junior grade. A graduate of St. Luke's hospital school of nursing, Cedar Rapids, Ia., she served as special duty nurse for two years in St. Mary's hospital, Rochester, Minn., and as general duty nurse at Allen hospital, Waterloo, Ia., one year. She entered the service Jan. 5, 1944, and was stationed at the naval hospital, Great Lakes, Ill., for six months. She was transferred to the U.S. naval hospital, Corpus Christi, Tex. where she has been for the past 11 months.
Two bothers also are in the service, Lt. Clinton. E. Sage, with the 245th port company, stationed in Luzon in the Philippines, who has been overseas 21 months, and Harlan R. Sage, aviation radio technician first class, Washington, D.C. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell H. Sage, live on a farm near Jesup.

Jesup -- Word has just been received here that Lt. (jg) Mary E. Sage, navy nurse corps, who has been stationed at the US naval hospital in Corpus Christi, Tex. the last 17 months, has been transferred to the naval dispensary marine corps air station at Eagle Mountain Lake, Tex. She has been in the service the last two years.
