Pvt. Patricia Aileen Ripperton

 

 

 

LEAVE FOR TRAINING -- The four young women will leave tonight for Des Moines to start basic training with the WACS. They are: Back row, left to right, Hope Harper, Wilton, Ia. and Miss Lucille Wagner, River View terrace, Bettendorf.

Front row, left to right, Patricia Ripperton, 2510 Oak street, Bettendorf and Mrs Wilma Koontz, 505 West Sixth street, Davenport. Miss Harper and Miss Ripperton are entering the army air corps upon completion of their basic training and Miss Wagner will got to Lexington, Va., for special training in rehabilitation work.

The Girls Volunteered

Since there weren't any boys of draft age in Pfc. Anna Lee Ripperton's family, she and two other sisters have entered the service. Her eldest sister, Second Lt. Nadine Ripperton is in the army nurse corps and was stationed at Buckley field in Denver, Colo., prior to the time when she was placed in the army-navy hospital at Hot Springs, Ark.

Another sister, Pvt. Patricia Aileen Ripperton, is also in the corps doing cadre work in the company five regiment at Des Moines, Iowa, where Pfc. Anna Ripperton took her basic training which began on 'Pearl Harbor Day' 1943. Pfc. Ripperton is assistant supply clerk on the detachment here.

PVT RIPPETON TRANSFFERED TO FORT OGELTHORPE

Pvt. Patricia A. Ripperton, 2510 Oak street, Bettendorf, a member of the Women's Army corps, has left the First WAC training center at Fr. Des Moines, Ia., for duty at Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga. She will be assigned to the Third WAC center at the Georgia post.
