Miss Cleo Ellsworth
Married at LaCrosse, Wis.
On Thursday
Dr. and Mrs. N. R. Ellsworth are announcing the marriage of their daughter, Miss Cleo to Cpl. Anthony J. Popovich, of Johnstown, Pa. The marriage took place at 7 o’clock in St. Joseph’s Cathedral in LaCrosse, Wisc. Attendants were another military man from Camp McCoy and his bride.
Miss Ellsworth was attractive in a dark brown wool traveling dress with which she wore brown accessories. Her shoulder corsage was of gardenias.
The bride, who is in cadet nurses training in Sioux City, Iowa, came to Spirit Lake last Wednesday and with her parents left for LaCrosse for the ceremony. Dr. Ellsworth had planned to be present for the service, but became ill at Windom enroute and could not complete the trip. Mrs. Ellsworth accompanied her daughter and returned to Spirit Lake Saturday.
Mrs. Popovich came to Spirit Lake with her parents eight years ago and was a popular member of the graduating class of 1943 of the local high school. She was a member of Spirit Lake Assembly, Order of Rainbow for Girls before leaving for Sioux City to enroll for cadet nurses training. She will be commissioned a lieutenant in the Army Nurses Corps in June, 1945, after which she will continue her nurses training. She is enjoying a short furlough stay at LaCrosse, before returning to her training.
The groom, who was an electrical engineer at Johnstown, Penn., before entering the armed service, was formerly a cadet in the air service at Sioux City, Iowa. He is now stationed with the infantry at Camp McCoy and has been assigned for overseas duty and expects to leave Camp McCoy shortly.
