WAVE of the Day
Mary Graves Phillips, 318 Marquette street, Davenport, has enlisted in the WAVES, and is awaiting orders to be sent to Hunter college, New York City, where she will receive her navy "boot" training.
She attended Perry, Ia. high school and is now employed as a file clerk at the Rock Island arsenal.
Her husband, William H. Phillips, is a fireman, first class in the navy. Her two brothers are also in the navy, Keenan Lee Graves is a seaman first class and Danny Ray Graves a fireman, second class.

Iowa WAVES Fill Vital Navy Jobs at Ottumwa
A WAVE with six reasons to "keep 'em flying" is Mary G. Phillips, Davenport. While "gassing" a plane at U.S. Naval air station, Ottumwa, she thinks of her husband, in the South Pacific and of her five brothers in the navy.
