TWO FOR THE BLUE -- George Pappas, fireman first class, is not the only one in the Tony Pappas family to wear the navy bleu, because his sister, Anastasia has received her call into the WAVES. She has gone to Hunter college in New York City. Miss Pappas has been employed at the public library. George Pappas has been in the navy for one year and is at present in Norfolk, Va., awaiting call to active service. He was employed at the Milwaukee roundhouse prior to joining the service. They are the son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Pappas, 512 Sixth street southeast.

Former Girls Scouts Go to War
War Brings Out Work's Importance
Girl Scouts of Mason City together with almost a million girls are celebrating the 32nd birthday of Girl Scouting in the U.S. 12th year of organization in Mason City.

With the nation at war many former Scouts are new serving with the women's branches of the armed forces and have testified as to the value of what they learned as children in the Scout troops. Outstanding examples in Mason City are Helen Lloyd Jones, Myrne Donaldson Monaghan and Anastasia Pappas.
