SERVICEMEN WRITE (to Joy Hanson, Editor of the Ellsworth News)

From Eleanor Olson

Synthetic Training
Corpus Christi, Texas
N. A. T. C.

I have almost a half hour left before my next class, so I’ll attempt to write a letter.

It will be a little difficult to write anything since the type of work I’m in cannot be told to the public. However, my hours are the same as when I was teaching in the grades. We are on duty from 0800 until 1630. (In other words from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.)

I do from two and one half to four hours of instructing each day and also have a few additional minor duties. I am enjoying my work very much and have some fine co-workers.

The only thing I don’t like is the heat. It really gets hot and especially when one is so fortunate to work in an air-conditioned room. In fact, the sun is even encouraging freckles to appear on my face. I have to admit, though, that so far I’ve been able to sleep evenings. It has been nice and cool.

This is a very peculiar letter, but since I have to practically weigh the words I use in telling about my work, it’s difficult to write.

I am also enclosing my correct address. Greetings to Ellsworth folks.

Sincerely,
Eleanor B. Olson, S 2-c Sp(T.)
