Dietitian in WACs Visits With Family

Cpl. Elizabeth Nettleton of the Women's Army Corps is spending her furlough visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Nettleton, 510 Washington N.W., planning to leave Saturday for Maine where she is a dietitian at Fort Preble near Portland.

The WAC detachment of which Corporal Nettleton is a member is stationed at Ft. Williams, Me., and she makes the trip to Ft. Preble where her work is every day.

Corporal Nettleton was sworn into the WAC last April and reported for duty on June 3 at Fort Des Moines where she received her basic training.

She is a graduate of Sheldon high school, Sheldon junior college and Iowa State college where she received her degree of bachelor of science in home economics.

70 Pct. Of Iowa WACs From Fighting Families
A survey of approximately 70 per cent of the total Iowa WAC enlistment reveals its close integration with the war effort through service of members overseas and in this county, and through other members of their families.

Corp. Elizabeth A. Nettleton, on duty as dietician at the Station hospital, Fort Preble, Me., is the daughter of Col., William D. Nettleton of Mason City, who saw active service in France and Germany during World War 1, and now is in the inactive reserve. Her brother, Sgt. William D. Nettleton, Jr., is with the 821st Engineer Battalion overseas. Corporal Nettleton, a member of the D.A.R. and Order of Eastern Star, attended the Iowa Junior College at Sheldon and Iowa State College at Ames.
