Betty La Nelle Mills was born November 27, 1922 at Leon, Iowa. She entered the service April 3, 1943 a member of the Marine Womens' Reserve. She attended Hunters College, Bronx, New York City, Camp LeJeune, New River, North Carolina. State Teachers College Milledgeville, Georgia, M.C.A.S. Cherry Point, N. Carolina. Her next of kin are her parents Mr. and Mrs. Clifton [Nellie] Mills of California, formerly of Leon, Iowa.
Betty was a 1941 graduate of Leon High School. She married David Steele on November 29, 1946. She died at the age of 87 years on October 25, 2010, at Long Beach, California, and was interred at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
