Lt. Betty J. Thierman Bride of Lt. Middleton In Ceremony March 12

ANNOUNCEMENT is being made of the marriage of Lt. Betty Jane Thierman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Thierman of Webster City to First Lt. Harbour M. Middleton, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Williamson of Childress, Texas.

The wedding took place Sunday, March 12, at 5 p.m. in the chapel at Peterson Army Air field, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Chaplain Walter Applegren performed the double ring ceremony in the presence of a few relatives and friends.

Attendants

The couple was attended by First Lt. and Mrs. John McGee.

The bride was attired in army uniform and wore a corsage of deep red camellias.

Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held in the Nurses Recreation hall. The table was centered by the decorated wedding cake with tapers on either side. The cake was baked by Estensen’s bakery of this city. The hall was cleverly decorated with miniature airplanes and cut flowers.

The bride was graduated from Webster City high school in 1938 and from St. Mary’s hospital of nursing, Rochester, Minn., in 1942. She enlisted in the army nurses air corps in May, 1943, and was stationed at Peterson Field base hospital.

Air Corps

Lieutenant Middleton, after graduating from high school, attended East Texas State college until enlisting in the air corps. He graduated at Stockton, Cal., with the class of 43-E and had combat duty in England and Africa. Having completed his 50 missions as a pilot he is now stationed at Peterson field as an instructor pilot

Lieutenant and Mrs. Middleton will reside in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Wedding guests from a distance were Mrs. A. E. Williamson of Childress, Texas, Mrs. S. D. Gay, Dalhart, Texas; and Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Thierman and Miss Virginia Thierman of Webster City.

Army Nurse Corps

Betty Jane Thierman was born Sept. 25, 1920 to William Allison ‘Allie’ and Marjorie ‘Mayme’ Ione Lawrence Thierman.

She graduated from Webster City high school in 1938 and from St. Mary’s hospital of nursing, Rochester, MN in 1942. She enlisted in the Army Nurse Air Corps in May 1943 and was stationed at Peterson Field base hospital.

March 12, 1944 she married First Lt. Harbour M. Middleton of Childress, TX in the chapel at Peterson Army Air field, Colorado Springs, CO.

Betty Jane died Dec. 17, 1992, in Lake Stevens, WA and is buried at Acacia Memorial Park, Lake Forest Park, WA.
