Alta Miss in Waacs
Irene Kellander of Alta, Iowa is expected to leave the women’s army training center at Fort Des Moines soon with a company of Waacs who will release soldiers from noncombatant jobs for active duty. Auxiliary Kellander is serving with the motor transportation division of the corps.

Irene Mildred Kellander Mobley was born Nov. 1, 1918 to Harold and Victoria Freiberg Kellander. She died Aug. 18, 2010 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. Irene served with the U.S. Army WACs in World War II.
She was married to John Francis Mobley. SMSGT Mobley also served in World War II. He is a retired Air Force veteran and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
