Westfield, Iowa – Word has been received of the promotion of Dorothy Harshfield of the army nurses corps to first lieutenant at Camp Breckenridge, Kentucky. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Harshfield of Westfield, formerly of Sioux City. The Harshfields also have four sons in the service. Sergeant Keith of Camp Pickett, Virginia, Sergeant Stuart, who is in Africa, Lynn, seaman second class of Ames and Wayne, who recently enlisted in the merchant marine and is in training at Sheeps Head Bay, Brooklyn, New York. Another son, Stanley, will report August 12, for induction at Des Moines.

Dorothy “Daisy” Harshfield Frishman was born Aug. 19, 1915 to Walter Scott and Mabel J. Malcom Harshfield. She died Apr. 2, 2005 and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA. Dorothy served in WWII, the Army Nurse Corps.
