Gets Call
"I hope to see service on foreign soil," Ensign Katherine Golbuff, of 214 Virden street, said Saturday upon receiving call to active duty in the United Sates Naval reserve nurses corps, July 6. Ensign Golbuff, who enlisted March 1, has been ordered to report to the U.S. naval hospital at Oakland, Cal. She is leaving today for Mason City for a two week visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Golbuff. A graduate of Mercy hospital, Marshalltown, Ia., Ensign Golbuff has been on private duty for the past year. Previous to that she was on general duty at Presbyterian hospital for four years here

MASON CITYANS IN HAWAII -- Two Mason City women have recently been assigned to service in the Hawaiian Island, according to information received from Pearl Harbor. They are Lt. (j.g.) Katherine M. Goldbuff (NC) USNR, and Miss Betty Lawton, Sp-2-C of the WAVES.

Lt. Golbuff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Golbuff, route 2, Mason City, has been stationed at the naval hospital in the Pearl Harbor areas since June and is one of the navy nurses helping to care for casualties of the Pacific war. She is a graduate of Mercy school of nursing at Marshalltown. When she received her commission in May 1943, she was engaged in nursing at the Presbyterian hospital in Waterloo.
During her naval service, Miss Golbuff has been on duty at the U.S. naval hospitals at Oakland and Oceanside, Cal.
