WOMEN IN SERVICE
Miss Betty Fairbank, yeoman third class, has returned to the naval aviation technical training center in Norman, Okla., following a leave in Iowa City with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Fairbank, 609 Dodge street.

Miss Betty Ruth Fairbank and Mr. Phil W. Kaufman to Marry
Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Fairbank, 609 Dodge street, announce the engagement of their daughter, Betty Ruth, to Mr. Phil W. Kaufman, 617 South Dodge street, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Kaufman of Kendalville, Ind.
Miss Fairbank is a graduate of Iowa City high school and attended the University of Iowa before her enlistment in the Waves. She served at Norman, Okla. for 19 months, after which she re-entered the university and was graduated in January form the college of commerce. She is now employed by Charles S. Galiher, secretary, University of Iowa "I" Club.
Mr. Kaufman, a graduate of Kendalville High school served in the navy in the European and Pacific theater for three years, He will be graduated from the school of journalism in August, 1949.
No date has been set for the wedding.
