Miss Dorcas Crawford, 1416 Garfield ave., Monday became the first Des Moines girl to join the marines. Her brother William, also is in the marines, in training at San Diego, Cal. She was graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1937 and for the last 3 ½ years has been a social studies teacher at Willard school.
