Our Neighbors in the Services
Spencer, Iowa – Miss Coyla Chaney of Spencer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Chaney, was one of the honor students graduated from Wave hospital corps school at the United States naval hospital, San Diego, California, recently.
The 61 Waves who completed the course are now ready to assist navy doctors and nurses in laboratory work, and in the care of ill and wounded navy men and marines.

Coyla Mae Chaney was born Jan. 3, 1923 to Osborn Miller and Bula Goldine Kirkpatrick Chaney. She died May 3, 1947 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Spencer, IA.
Petty Officer Chaney served with the U.S. Navy WAVES in World War II. She served at the U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego, Ca and the U.S. Naval Air Base in Alameda, CA.
