Bernice LaVonne Sandal Burruss was born May 27, 1921, Stanhope, Iowa, to Elmer C. and Luella K. Nielsen Sandal. She died Feb. 19, 1991 and is buried in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.
Bernice served with the U.S. Navy in World War II and was stationed at Navy Pier, Chicago, IL, and Naval Hospitals at Portsmouth, VA and Dublin, Georgia.
