Army Nurse Corps
Ida Jeanne Dakin was born Sept. 8, 1921 to Emery Dawson and Flossie M. Tewalt Dakin.
She attended four years of training at the Marshalltown School of Nursing. She was also a member of the Cadet Nursing Corps at Evangelical Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown. Following graduation in 1944, she enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force as Ida Jeanne Boucher. She spent her time in the service in Germany. She was discharged with the rank of Lieutenant.
She married John Svenson Aug. 13, 1960 in Webster City, IA. She was the supervisor of the OB department at the Hamilton County Public Hospital, later working as a nurse for Dr. Patterson.
She died July 21, 2002 in Webster City, IA and is buried at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City.
