Killed By Train
WAVE Kathryn Benningfield, 26, of Ottumwa, Ia., assigned as a storekeeper in Abbott hall, was killed yesterday when she was struck by a northbound Illinois Central train at 75th st and Exchange ave. Police said Mrs. Benningfield had alighted from a southbound train and was crossing in front of the northbound train when it struck her.
The engineer, Felix Mark, 1409 E 67th st. said he saw Mrs. Benningfield, but did not expect her to walk in front of the train. Police said she was enroute to the home of a sister-in-law, Mrs. William Benningfield at 508 e. 74th st.
Her husband, Gordon, is a sailor on duty with the fleet in the Pacific. She lived at 121 E. Oak st. An inquest will be held this morning at 2024 E 75th st.

Kathryn B. Benningfield, storekeeper 2/c in the Waves, daughter of Yard Conductor D.E. Chambers of Ottumwa, Ia., was killed on Dec. 17 when struck by an electric train in Chicago. Her husband is in the navy in the South Pacific, and a brother, Jack Chambers, is serving with the marines.
