MISS KATHERINE BAUWENS
Another Davenport girl to join the WAVES is Miss Katherine Bauwens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bauwens of 916 East Fifteenth street. She will report at Hunter college in New York on Jan. 6.
Miss Bauwens attended Davenport high school and has been employed at the Davenshire, Inc.
A party will be given this evening by Miss Nelda Bluedron and Miss Alice Bedian at the home of the former, 766 Charlotte avenue, Davenport, the event to honor Miss Bauwens and Miss Carolyn Rodriges, who will also report at Hunter college on Jan.6.

WAVE of the Day
Katherine Bauwens, seaman, first class, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bauwens, was recently home on a five-day leave.
She enlisted in the WAVES in January, 1944, and took her "boot" training at Hunter college, New York City, N.Y. She was then sent to aircraft instrument school at Chicago and is now on active duty in San Diego, Calif.
Seaman Bauwens is a graduate of Davenport high school and prior to entering the service she was employed by the Davenshire Corp, Davenport.
She has two brothers in the service. Lt. John H Bauwens, with the AAF stationed overseas, and Pvt. Joseph "Duke" Bauwens, with the marine corps in California.
