Robert Eugene Abbott was born Aug. 18, 1923 to Melvin and Fern Thompson Abbott. He died Feb. 25, 1996 and is buried in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, IN.
Sgt. Abbott served in World War II with the U.S. Army, taking part in the campaigns of Guadalcanal, Bougainville, and the invasion of Luzon.
His wife, Beverly Joy Daugherty Abbott was born Mar. 25, 1926 to Orville L. and Clarissa V. Boyer Daugherty. She died Mar. 29, 2005. Beverly served with the U.S. Cadet Nursing Corps at Newman Hospital, Emporia, KS.
