Eleven Were Inducted from Decatur County on December 17.
Of the eleven men inducted from Decatur county December 17, eight of them are fathers. In the army were Earl Clayton OUTHOUSE, Lamoni, father; Cletus Delbert WEBSTER, Leon, father; Robert Lee JACKSON, Weldon; Norman Laurence LEVERSON, Lamoni; and Raymond Forest VANDERPOOL, Leon, father.
Inducted into the navy were Garland Ori HAGEN, Garden Grove; father, Herman August DAY, Lamoni, father; Paul Loren PHIPPS, Leon; father; Frank Lehua SHIPMAN, Lamoni, father; Gerald Edward LYSINGER, Lamoni, and Junior Toney RAUCH, Grand River.

War Department Telegrams
LEON – Pvt. Willard Chester ELLSTON, 28, son of Mrs. Kate ELLSTON of Davis City, was seriously injured in France June 18, according to a telegram received from the war department.
LEON – Corp. Lee ROBERTS, son of Mr. and Mrs. William ROBERTS of Leon, is now in a base hospital in England recovering from injuries suffered in France during the invasion.
LEON – Mrs. Vernon D. INGRAM, who lives near Leon, has been notified by the war department that her husband, Pvt. (f. c.) Vernon D. INGRAM, was seriously injured in France June 11.
LEON - Tech. 5th Gr. Paul O. RAMSEY of Leon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred RAMSEY of Osceola, was seriously injured in France June 11, according to a telegram from the war department received by the parents.
