S/Sgt. Clayton Hamless, Camp Craft, S.C., who has been home on a two weeks furlough left via Oelwein Friday night to return to his station. 

Hawkeye 

Ensign Hauth in Manilla Ensign John Hauth is still located in the Manilla area in the Philippines. He is serving on a PT boat squadron. Cpl. Johnston In Australia Cpl. Russell Johnston, former Hawkeyean is serving with the Air Corp as a Radio man in Australia and is expected home according to word received by his mother, Mrs. Margaret Johnson, now living in Minneapolis, Minn. 

Calvin Curtis Home 

Calvin Curtis, Gunners Mate 3/c, spent Wednesday and Thursday here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Curtis, and sister, Ruth, returning to Mobile, Alabama for further assignment for overseas duty. His friend Miss Geraldine Smith of Oran was a Thursday night supper guest of his parents. 

Gaylon Foot To Boston 

Gaylon Foot, MOMM 1c, and wife have gone to Boston, Mass., where he will be reassigned. He has been serving on a PT boat in the Pacific. 

Sgt. Fritz in France 

Sgt. Martin Fritz, serving with the 43rd General Hosptial in southern France has recovered from pneumonia and malaria according to word received here by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Fritz. (cont. on next page) 

Pfc. Mabb in India 

Pfc. Ray Mabb, who has served in India for the past two years has arrived home on a 30-day furlough and was a Sunday and Monday visitor here in the John Schott home. Pfc. Clifforced Mabb, also home on a 30-day furlough from the European theater of war was a Monday guest in the Schott home. 

Pfc. Frohm Ill 

Pfc. Arthur Frahm is ill of yellow jaundice in a hospital in the Philippines. He has been serving since January 1945 with the 43rd Infantry division. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. John Frahm. 

Sgt. Kohlmeyer Is Hospitalized

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kohlmeyer report their son T/Sgt. Kenneth Kohlmeyer, who was wounded some time ago is still confined in a hospital in England. He was serving with the 78th division of the Infantry. His brother, Pfc. LaVern Kohlmeyer, is with the 5th Artillery Division in Germany. 

Reassign Sgt. Granneman 

T/Sgt. Donald Granneman left Thursday for Santa Ana, Calif., where he will receive a reassignment following a 15-day visit here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Granneman. 

Ken Carmichael in Marshalls 

Kenneth Carmichael, SC 1/c, who has been in Hawaii the past 15 months is now at Kwajlein in the Marshalls. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Carmichael. 

Sgt. Bemis Discharged 

Sgt. Raymond Bemis who has served in the U.S. Navy overseas three years has received an honorable discharge recently returned from New Guinea, came home last Friday to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bemis. 

Baby Girl 

S/Sgt. And Mrs. Elmer Buhr are the parents of a 9 ½ pound daughter born May 31 at Sumner. She has been named Nancy Jo. S/Sgt. Buhr is in the Marianas. 

Another Baby Girl 

Announcements have been received here by friends and relatives telling of the birth of a daughter, Evelyn Ann, born at Sunnyvale, Calif., to Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Douglas Swenson. Wayne, a former Hawkey boy, is serving in the U.S. Navy. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Wartham, live in northern Minnesota. 

Fayette Servicemen Honored 

Tuesday evening the Martin Timm family entertained at a 6:30 dinner at the Art Sorge home in Maynard in honor of Lieut. Lowell Timm and Lieut. Wayne Timm who are visiting their parents. 

Wegner Is Commissioned 

Mr. and Mrs. Emil T. Wegner drove to Postville Saturday evening to meet their son, Ensign Alfred Wegner, wo graduated from an Officers Training School in Ithaca, N.Y. On Friday, and came home on leave. Ensign Wegner is to report at Miami, Florida, June 27th. His sister, Bernadine Wegner, who is working in Washington, D.C., attended the graduation exercises in Ithaca. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Wegner entertained their entire family and their families at a picnic dinner Sunday at their home except Bernadine and Otto who is stationed somewhere in Italy. Wm. Thompson also was a guest. There were 31 present. 

Larry Fennell Home 

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilder and family attended a family reunion Sunday at the Larry Fennell home near Wadena, in honor of James Fennell who is home for 30 days, after spending 15 months in the South Pacific. Others attending the reunion were Don Lenhart family, Mrs. Geo. Kuhens, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Shaffer and family, Mr. and Mrs. F. Heiden and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Don Orr and family, Mrs. Joe Conner and Alicia Joe, and Bonnie Joyce Lamphier. 

Randalia Army Discharge for Owen 

Doyle Owen, who has been stationed overseas in Germany, received a discharge with his wife and little daughter is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Owen.
