HONOR Mr. & Mrs. DORANCE DAY
Members of the “31” club entertained at a potluck dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Adams, Mason City, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Dorance Day, Klemme, who are
moving to California soon. Mr. Day plans to go about March 1 and Mrs. Day and Gary will follow in a couple of months.

KLEMME – Mr. and Mrs. Dorance Day and Gary arrived from El Sequendo, Cal., where Mr. Day has been employed in a war plant. They will visit at the John Day home at Klemme and the C. Peterson home at Clear Lake.

KLEMME – Mr. and Mrs. Dorance Day are expected to return home soon from El Segundo, Cal., where Mrs. [Ruth E.] Day has been taking medical treatments.

Quote from his obituary (1916-2010)
"During the war Dorance worked on the B-25 Bomber in Englewood, Calif. as the leadman. He was the last person to see and check the plane after the B-25's were built. While working for North American Aviation he gave final inspection to the B-25 Mitchell Bombers that bombed Tokyo, Japan in the Doolittle Raid. Dorance noted "It was the heaviest armed plane in the war." He is listed on the National World War II Memorial because of his work with the B-25 Bomber. He was awarded the Army-Navy E award for excellence while working for North American Aviation.
"Dorance worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. as a sales representative, assistant manager and senior sales representative. He retired from them in November 1976."
