"Boots," the dog of Charlton Sturm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sturm, 109 East Seventh street, is the first pet from Cedar Falls to be enlisted in the War Dog Fund, Dogs for Defense, Inc., it was learned here today.
Pvt. "Boots" has been appointed recruiting officer for this city and has been asked to enlist her doggy pals through their owners in this war effort. The private will enlist non-combatant 4-F dogs in the War Dog Fund so that they can support their canine brothers at the front.
Owners of other dogs may secure information from Charlton Sturm and Pvt. "Boots." Various ranks in army, navy, coast guard, or women's divisions of these branches may be secured when money is sent to cover the cost of the rank desired.
The War Dog Fund was organized to undertake a national campaign to enlist the home dogs of the country in securing contributions for that fund for "Dogs for Defense," so that those dogs which cannot go to war can assist in procuring their canine brothers for the front.
