H.W. Wilson dies at 53
Herbert W. Wilson, 53, a longtime resident of Webster City, died Friday afternoon at the Veterans’ hospital in Des Moines. He had been in ill health the past three years.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Dale Kelly officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery where military services will be held at graveside.
Herbert Wallace Wilson son of Roland James and Mary Jane Hooker Wilson, was born Nov. 11, 1914 at Waynesville, Ill. When he was three years old, he came with his parents to Iowa, locating in the Webster City community. He was reared and educated in this community.
For many years he was engaged in construction and painting work in this community.
Surviving are two sons, Larry Wilson, Fort Dodge and James Wilson of Webster City; several grandchildren; one brother and three sisters, Herschel Wilson, Mrs. Howard (Mildred) Hill and Mrs. Edward (Alda) Johnson all of Webster City, and Mrs. Cleada Smith of Decatur, Ill., and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Wilson served with the U .S. Army during World War II.
