Soldier Taken By Death

Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Hendrix have received word of the death of Corp. Tech. Harold V. Willits, a second cousin of Mr. Hendrix. Cpl-T Willits was killed in Italy in mid-February, according to word received by his mother, Mrs. Edith Willits, of Mount Pleasant. He entered service as a member of the Fairfield, Ia., national guard unit band. He is a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan college and formerly taught school at Numa, Ia. A sister, Lieut. Dorothy Willits, serving in Italy and had been with her brother there and during the North African campaign.

Sgt. Harold V. Willits served in World War II with the U.S. Army 133rd Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division and was KIA in Italy Feb. 10, 1944 and is buried in Sicily-Rome American Cemetery, Nettuno, Italy He was awarded the Purple Heart.
