Charles Donald Willis was born Oct. 17, 1924 to John Herbert and Alice Knabal Willis. He died May 4, 1945 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 2, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii and in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL.
Petty Officer Willis served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Morrison (DD-560) and was MIA/KIA when that ship was sunk in the Battle of Okinawa. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
