GAINS PROMOTION
Lester Welch, son of Mrs. H. E. Johnson of this city, has been promoted from lieutenant to the rank of captain and is now in Belgium, according to word received by his mother. Captain Welch, who has been overseas since January, is connected with the signal corps unit. He was transferred from England to France early in September.

Lester Lorenz Welch was born Mar. 2, 1921 to Lawrence J. and Edna Welch.
Capt. Welch served in World War II with the Ninth Air Force in England, France and Belgium.
