PRISONER OF NAZIS
Second Lt. John Watson of Glidden, a son-in-law of Dick Ruhl of this city, is now being held as a prisoner of war in Germany. Captured Sept. 12, the lieutenant has written several letters recently received by his wife. In them he writes that he is well now, having recovered from a broke ankle suffered in landing. He was serving on a B-17.

John Watson was the son-in-law of the Dick Ruhl’s of Webster City. His wife was the former Opal Ruhl.
Lt. Watson was captured Sept. 12, 1945 and held as a prisoner of war in Germany. He served on a B-17 with the 351st Bomb Group, 511 Squadron. He bailed out when his plane went down and broke an ankle on landing.
