Charles Sylvanus Ward was born Dec. 13, 1918 to Grover Cleveland and Martha Alice Campbell Ward. He died July 11, 1944 and is buried in Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Normandy, France. He has a cenotaph in Hardin Cemetery, Moulton, IA.
Pvt. Ward served with the U.S. Army 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division in World War II and was KIA in the European area.
