Carl Elson Wanamaker was born Nov. 20, 1913 to Ambrose Elson and Clara Louise Wildberger Wanamaker. He died Dec. 21, 1944 and is buried in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL.
Lt. Wanamaker served in World War II with the U.S. Army 33rd Armored Regiment, 3rd Armored Division and was KIA in Belgium and awarded the Purple Heart, American Campaign and World War II Victory Medal.
