Lyle Wahman, 88, of Webster City, formerly of Stratford, died Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center, with Pastor Joe Lambert officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lyle Wahman, son of Edward and Helen Ludwickson Wahman, was born May 1, 1926 at Stratford. Lyle graduated from high school in Stratford. He was then called to duty in the United States Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific until his honorable discharge in 1946. He married Betty Jernquist on June 1, 1944 in Des Moines. Lyle worked various jobs in Hamilton County and in 1956 he accepted a position as Security Inspector with the Atomic Energy Commission in Los Alamos, New Mexico. He retired in 1977. Following a lengthy illness, his wife, Betty passed away in 1982. Lyle returned to Statford in 1986, and he married Maye Whitson on February 12, 1987 in a country church close to Hardy. The couple made their home in Stratford. They enjoyed dancing and traveling.
Lyle is survived by his wife Maye of Webster City; daughters, Jean Martinez of New Mexico, Donna Morris and Robert of New Mexico; step-sons, Bruce Whitson of Des Moines, Mark Whitson of Michigan; grandchildren, Tammy Lujan and Lawrence, Leora Gomez, Nathan Martinez and Roxanne, Justin Martinez and Maryanne, Ramon Martinez, Jonathan Martinez, Michelle Morris, Brett Whitson, Becky Smith, Joel Whitson, Joa Stone and Tony, Jonna Leonard and Rick; great-grandchildren, Marina, Ryan, Joseph, Jennifer, Venus, Christopher, Nathan Jr., Michael, Iesha, Alexis, Tatiana, Cruzito, Serenity, Justin Jr., Taylor, Hunter, Gunner, Grayson, Brennen, Austin, Dylan, Gus, Allisa; great-great-grandchildren, Dayton, Dallas, Olivia.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Betty, son, Spencer Wahman, daughter, Joan Wahman, step-son, Craig Whitson, great-grandson, Micah, brother, Duane Wahman, and son-in-law, Ramon Martinez.
Lyle was a member of the Stratford Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post #576, the VFW, the Moose Club and the Elks Club. Lyle also served on the Stratford City Council.
