4-MEDAL BURT SOLDIER KILLED
Pfc. Albert Voigt Saw Action in Six Battles
Algona—Mr. and Mrs. Robert Voigt, Burt, whose 4 sons were in the service, received notice this week that their son, Pfc. Albert Voigt, was killed in action in France, Oct. 23.
He was in the Normandy invasion in June and since had been in 6 major battles, having received medals for each.
He enlisted April 2, 1942, and went overseas March 13, 1944. He was in an anti-tank company. He was born at Apache, Okla., July 28, 1912, came to Kossuth county in 1927, was graduated from Whittemore high school in 1933, then moved to Burt.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Merwyn Cunningham, Burt; his parents and 3 brothers, Pfc. Martin Voigt, Cpl. Robert Voigt in air service overseas, and Pvt. William Voigt with a medical division stationed at Camp Ellis, Ill.
Memorial services will be held later, pending receipt of a letter from overseas.

GIVES LIFE --Mr. and Mrs. Robert Voight of Burt received a telegram from the war department stating their 2nd son, Pfc. Albert G. Voight, was killed in action in France Oct. 23. He was 32 years old and took part in 6 major battles since D-Day.

PFC. VOIGT, BURT, KILLED IN ACTION IN FRANCE OCT. 23
Burt: Pvt. William Voigt left Monday to return to Camp Elliott, Illinois, after spending a 14-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Voigt. Pvt. Voigt arrived home on Friday and his parents received a message on Monday from the government to the effect that their son, Pfc. Albert Voigt, was killed in action in France on October 23. He was in the infantry with the 3rd army and had taken part in six major engagements, being killed in the seventh. He entered service in April, 1942, and was sent overseas in March of this year. Mr. and Mrs. Voigt have two other sons in the service overseas, Pfc. Martin F. Voigt in Italy and Cpl. Robert W. Voigt with the air corps in Italy. Mrs. Merwyn Cunningham is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Voigt.

Eighty men from Kossuth county lost their lives while in the service of their country in World War II.

Albert Gustav Voigt was born July 12, 1912 to Robert Wilhelm and Amanda Maria Schulenburg Voigt. He died Oct. 23, 1944 and is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery, St. Avold, France. He was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
